Travel Pros And Cons List

Pros of travel.
I should go travelling because:

  1. it'll be fun, goddamnit.
  2. there are some places I'd love to visit and I might never get to see.
  3. life is short.
  4. it'll be a learning experience.
  5. it'll be interesting.
  6. it'll be a more active lifestyle that the sedentary job I have now, and will get me off the actual and metaphorical sofa.
  7. it's good timing, because if I'm going to go, better to go now, before I'm responsible for kids, elders, or anyone except myself.
  8. it'll improve my confidence and self-esteem.
  9. as the poem says, one should "go places and do things and travel lighter," "take more chances, take more trips."
  10. it's motivation to save money and learn to budget.
  11. it's motivation to declutter and simplify my life.
  12. it'll be part of my spiritual journey. Time to think, time to pray, time to visit sacred places, opportunity to walk my talk.
  13. it's motivation to get fit, learn self-defence, learn first aid, learn a language, and other new skills.
  14. it's a good reason to dump a crappy job.
  15. I want to.
  16. I've been looking at that world map on my bedroom wall every morning now for a year, and I still can't believe the world's such a big place, and yet I've seen so little of it.
Cons of travel.
I shouldn't go travelling because:

  1. I'll miss my family, my friends, my dog.
  2. I will be lonely some of the time.
  3. I will be in danger.
  4. I will have to put off having a baby until I get back.
  5. I will damage my "career."
  6. I will pretty much end my chances of ever buying a place of my own.
  7. it's frightening.
