Travel Pros And Cons List
Pros of travel.
I should go travelling because:
- it'll be fun, goddamnit.
- there are some places I'd love to visit and I might never get to see.
- life is short.
- it'll be a learning experience.
- it'll be interesting.
- it'll be a more active lifestyle that the sedentary job I have now, and will get me off the actual and metaphorical sofa.
- it's good timing, because if I'm going to go, better to go now, before I'm responsible for kids, elders, or anyone except myself.
- it'll improve my confidence and self-esteem.
- as the poem says, one should "go places and do things and travel lighter," "take more chances, take more trips."
- it's motivation to save money and learn to budget.
- it's motivation to declutter and simplify my life.
- it'll be part of my spiritual journey. Time to think, time to pray, time to visit sacred places, opportunity to walk my talk.
- it's motivation to get fit, learn self-defence, learn first aid, learn a language, and other new skills.
- it's a good reason to dump a crappy job.
- I want to.
- I've been looking at that world map on my bedroom wall every morning now for a year, and I still can't believe the world's such a big place, and yet I've seen so little of it.
Cons of travel.
I shouldn't go travelling because:
- I'll miss my family, my friends, my dog.
- I will be lonely some of the time.
- I will be in danger.
- I will have to put off having a baby until I get back.
- I will damage my "career."
- I will pretty much end my chances of ever buying a place of my own.
- it's frightening.
